Another Monday off. Another exploration adventure. Tokyo is forever changing with the seasons – in the Autumn, it’s the beautiful leaves, in the spring, it’s the Sakura and in the Summer it’s apparently the hydrangeas!
I found out about a local shrine 白山神社in the Bunkyo area (文京区) that showcases many different varieties of hydrangeas in the summer season. I really had no idea that there were so many different kinds and just how beautiful they are.
I am not one usually to be interested in photographing flowers (I figure that to be something to do in my old-er age). However, I joined the mostly older visitors in capturing these gorgeous flowers as they were just so mesmerising.
The key demographic was the elderly people of the neighbourhood who delighted in the various shades and varieties of the hydrangeas. They seemed like they were having a grand old time catching up with old friends and photographing everything to their hearts content.
My favourite of the lot!
