Day seven – on the way to Mandalay

We awoke to freezing conditions and the sound of roosters crowing without any sign of the sun. It took a fair while for the sun to rise and to warm us up, with the sun rise albeit beautiful, a little hard to see amongst the haze that often spreads across the sky here.

Then it was a nice lazy cruise down the river till we reached the small town of Saigung where we stopped off for lunch and visited a beautifully kept hill top pagoda.

It was an action packed afternoon, where we first tried to make a mad dash to catch the sun set at the famous U Bein teak bridge. Our driver expertly (and crazily!) sped through the traffic jammed streets of Mandalay so that we could just catch the sunset. What a view!
